Before I start my review – Here is my two cents on Weber Grills based on my own experience
My upfront opinion of all Weber grills, including the Genesis S-330 (6570001) in general is that they are pricey but are made of all top notch materials. Does everyone need a $700 plus grill; no. However, if you want a gas grill that will last 15 plus years AND still look like new then that answer is a resounding YES. The Weber Genesis S 330 Gas Grill is no exception and in this review I’ll point out some key features and potential issues you will want to know about.
Here is a picture of a Genesis model gas grill I came across from in 2008 and as you can see it still look new. No rust and everything still works. It even still has the original electric ignition which works great. One of the biggest reason Weber gas grills look new for so long is all the painted surfaces are actually coated porcelain enamel, NOT painted or powder coated. ONLY porcelain enamel coating will last for so long and endure high temperatures. In fact, I have never come across a Weber grill that any rust. As far as the Genesis S 330 is concerned, you have a choice of stainless steel or color. Either way, you can expect no rust over the lifetime of the grill.
Now for my Weber S-330 review of some of the key components of this gas grill that makes this grill stand out over its competitors, and some stuff that keeps it from being a full 5 stars.
Grates – The grates are made of heavy gauge high density stainless steel rods (7mm). They retain heat well and will distribute the heat evenly when you are grilling and searing your meat. Additionally, they will not rust from high heat or corrode over time. These are highest quality stainless steel grates you will find on any grill at any price. Expect these to last as long as you keep the grill.
Porcelain Enameled Heat Deflectors – One of the first thing that usually go on low quality gas grills is heat deflectors. This is because they are directly exposed to the highest heat. Also the burners are made of thick gauge stainless steel burners.
Stainless Steel Enameled Shroud – In reality, this means NO RUST and a lifetime of looking like new. Even though the hood on this grill is all stainless still, it is still coated with enamel for an extra layer of protection. The colored S-330 Genesis grills are coated the same way and the color will not fad or get burned through as you see on most all other grills. Also the shroud/hood is made with this gauge stainless steel which helps hold in heat and keep a steady temperature.
Enclosed Storage and Gas Tank – This grill comes with a full stainless steel enclosed storage area. While a lot of this area is taken up by the gas tank, it still has room to store your stuff on the opposite side and allows you to close that stuff up and protect them from the elements.
Weight – As I said before, this is not the lightest grill, over 200 lbs. with gas tank. It’s actually pretty heavy for its size but a lot of that is contributed to the high quality components that make up this grill. If you have to frequently move or haul your grill then the wait of this grill is something you will want to consider.
Wheels – As mentioned, the wheel are heavy duty and should hold up well over time. However, I think the diameter is pretty small which will make it hard to roll over areas with seams like concrete or brick patios. The caster seem to get stuck sideways between the boards on decks too.
Price – As with all Weber grills, they are pricey. They are well made and will last a lot of years. However, there are some other brands that have exhibited great longevity for half the price.
In conclusion, if you are tired of replacing a grill every three or four years then the Weber Genesis S-330 will be a grill to consider. It’s the perfect size for backyard BBQs and offers just enough cooking space to easily feed 20-25 people at a time. Furthermore, it will look like new for many years and with over 275 five star reviews on Amazon, it’s apparent that this grill has a hug following and is well worth the money.
